What semantic errors restricted to either speaking or writing in aphasia tell us about lemmas

چکیده

Theories about word production differ in whether they assume that lexical selection involves modality-specific representations or modality-neutral ones, called lemmas. The observation semantic errors aphasia may be restricted to either speaking writing has long been taken challenge lemma models (Hillis et al., Citation1999; Kemmerer, Citation2015, Citation2019). Whereas patients RGB, HW, and RR make but not writing, patient RCM exhibits the opposite dissociation. Here, using WEAVER++ simulations a simple mathematical analysis, model with lemmas is shown account for double dissociation observed patients. In particular, captures patterns of performance on vocal picture naming, written auditory comprehension, dictation, explaining 98% variance. now findings was designed explain first place.

What boundaries tell us about binding.

Early in the process of perception the visual system decomposes the visual scene into features that are processed in parallel by identifiable subsystems. At some point in the process of scene recognition, these features must be recombined to allow the perception of objects. This recombination is called 'feature integration'. Over the past twenty years, cognitive scientists have devoted much ene...

What can proteomics tell us about platelets?

More than 130 years ago, it was recognized that platelets are key mediators of hemostasis. Nowadays, it is established that platelets participate in additional physiological processes and contribute to the genesis and progression of cardiovascular diseases. Recent data indicate that the platelet proteome, defined as the complete set of expressed proteins, comprises >5000 proteins and is highly ...

What vibrations tell us about GTPases.

In this review, we discuss how time-resolved Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy is used to understand how GTP hydrolysis is catalyzed by small GTPases and their cognate GTPase-activating proteins (GAPs). By interaction with small GTPases, GAPs regulate important signal transduction pathways and transport mechanisms in cells. The GTPase reaction terminates signaling and controls tran...

What neurobiology cannot tell us about addiction.

Molecular neurobiological studies have yielded enormous amounts of valuable information about neuronal response mechanisms and their adaptive changes. However, in relation to addiction this information is of limited value because almost every cell function appears to be involved. Thus it tells us only that neurons adapt to 'addictive drugs' as they do to all sorts of other functional disturbanc...

What Needs Tell Us about User Experience

The present study explores the sources and consequences of fulfilling six fundamental human needs, namely Autonomy, Relatedness, Competence, Stimulation, Influence, and Security, through using interactive products and media. Each need refers to a distinct set of issues, such as according product attributes (e.g., "flexibility") and experiential consequences (e.g., "freedom of choice"). Besides ...
